Has anybody got a more in depth explanation of when this spells fails to provide any useful information?
I'm curious as in one of the games I run the cleric has just cast this upon the remains of a former friend in order to get them to explain their actions.
However, he killed the friend with a flame strike and I ruled there was nothing left but a heavily charred skeleton.

The spell implies that it requires all the fleshy bits (tongue, vocal chords, etc.) to allow any actual answers be given. Although it could be read that only the bone structure (jaw) really matters.

Sooo. ideas from any DMs who have used this spell more often? Is this just going to come down to a judgement call on my part?
