Special Edition Predators -- worth getting?

I've got the Predator and Predator 2 DVDs in their "non-special edition" and have had for some time. Is there any compelling reason for me to pick up the special editions?

NO. I have not seen them, but what would be compelling enough to buy another copy of the same movie? A behind the scene look at special effects over 10 years old would be dull. I doubt you get a commentary on film making and camera work like in Braveheart. I can't see actor inerviews being that interesting. After all these are not over complex films, they are your basic shoot-em up action movies with a cool villain.

I personally love when the "Special Editions" come out because it usually means the standard copies go into the discount bin about 6 months befor the release of the special edition. I picked up both Pred 1 & 2 for $9.99 ea.

Gotta say that I disagree with this. Ten year old special effects are a lot more interesting than current ones.

"Well, to do that, we created a cgi effect. And then that was done with cgi. Oh yeah and that really cool bit was cgi..."

What are the diffrences between the two editions? Digitally remastered? Added scenes? Commentaries? Ooodles of extras? Nicer box?

Looks like an extra disc of promo material, including a few deleted scenes and featurettes (not integrated into the movie proper.)

I'm thinking I'll probably just rent the extra discs from Netflix.

But I'm a huge fan of the Predator movies. The collector in me is trying to rebel against such logical answers...

It really depends. The comentaires are nice, and if you're a Predator fan, the one with the writers on Predator 2 has some nice tidbits. But other then that, I can't say there's alot on them to warrent buying them if you already have them. I wouldn't rent them though, as I've seen them at Target foe about $14.00, which is about ten bucks more then most rental stores, and you'll own them.

Well, I'm a Netflix member, so renting them isn't that big a deal. If the Special Editions are at Target for $14, though, that's a real tempting offer...
