Specialist wizards

Since they cannot cast spells from their prohibited schools, can they still use magic items based on those spells? For example - a transmuter with prohibited schools Illusion and Conjuration:

1) Can he use a Ring of Invisibility?

2) Can he use a Wand of Summon Monster I?

3) Can he cast Teleport from a scroll?

Thanks in advance,

A specialist wizard cannot use "spell completion" or "spell trigger" devices with spells from an opposing school. This mean items like Scrolls, wands and staves. So, in your example, the Wizard in question could not use the Wand of Summon Monster or the scroll of Teleport. They can still use the Ring of Invisibility since this is not a spell completion/trigger device and even non-spellcasters can use this item.

The same with an item of spell-storing, like a ring or Ioun stone. If this wizard had a Ring of Spell Storing with Teleport, they could still use it becuase it is not a spell completion/trigger device that anyone could use.

1) Can he use a Ring of Invisibility? Yes

2) Can he use a Wand of Summon Monster I? No

3) Can he cast Teleport from a scroll? No

The first example is an object that even a commoner could use. Their is no restriction of class, spell or other thing, go on, take it, no problem.

Wands and scroll are more tricky magical object, and you need to have the spells in your spell list to be able to use to object (but not necesserly having it in the Spell Known or Spellbook). A forbidden school is NOT in you spell list, so you can't use magic items with spell completion needed (that mean scroll, wands, and maybe some rare magic item.)

Additional question:

Say a specialist wizard (using the Transmuter in the first example) multiclasses into sorcerer.

A) Can he cast spells from the prohibited schools as spells from his sorcerer daily spells?

B) Do the spells he casts as a sorcerer gain the benefit of the specialist class?

C) Can he get an extra spell per level in his preferred school for his sorcerer spells? I'm thinking no.

A)Yes, but only as a sorcerer (or any new class you took).
B)No
C)No

Look like that, would a druid gain from a wizard specialisation. No. This is two different caster, gaining spells from different source and casting spells from different origin. No possible relation could be seen.

Same for Sorcerer/Wizard. Sorcerer, magic flow in their blood. Their casting is innate. WIzard must study. It is two way of living their magic and can't be mixed.

For magical items, yes, a specialist/sorcerer can use magic items with spell completion from his forbidding school, but you must not forgot, for a Transmuter8/Sorcerer1, any spell completion items from any non-forbidden school would be consider a spellcaster level 8, but for forbidden spells, he would like to be considered level 1 (his sorcerer level), and you would have more chance to fizzle with the object.

Yes, the multiclassed Transmuter/Sorcerer *can* cast spells and use spell-completion items from the prohibited school AS a Sorcerer. This means that any item using a spell from the Wizards prohibited would use the Sorcerer class level to determine success (which is only a concern with scrolls). So, yes, taking a level of Sorcerer is a cheap way of getting past part of this. But the two class abilities are still *separate* and the bonuses for a specialist Wizard only benefits the Wizards spells.

A) Yes
B) No
C) No

Any general abilities the specialist has taken that benefits his specialist thing will help with sorcerer spells, though. An Illusionist 5/Sorcerer 1 who learns Color Spray as a sorcerer will benefit from the Spell Focus (and Greater Spell Focus) feat he probably took to help out with his Illusion DCs. That's because Spell Focus is not a class ability of the Wizard, but a general feat.
