Specialists: Save DCs?

I have always thought that specialist wizards received a +2 to the DC of there chosen school of spells saves.

I.E. 1st level Enchanter, Int 16, casting Sleep = DC 16 for saves

The same character casting Burning Hands= DC 14 for saves

A fellow player asked me where this passage was in the PHB and I could not find it. I swear I saw it somewhere or perhaps I am not getting enough oxygen in my old age

Nope, if you want to improve the DC of your spells in a schools you have to take the spellfocus feat.

You might be thinking of the fact (if I recall correctly) that specialist receive a +2 to spellcraft checks in reference to things involving their school of choice (and I believe a -5 for their opposed schools).

Sorry, but specialists get no bonus to save DC's. I think they did in 2nd edition, but in 3rd, you have to take the Spell Focus feat in your specialized school.
