I don't usually do this, but I changed the title. I didn't want it to be inadvertently misleading.

Very fair. It hadn't intended to be misleading, but I probably erred on the succinctness vs. clarity spectrum.

There were, obviously, reasons for the original post/assertion.
Partially it was that Paizo's PR has been so masterful, (new free WAR art, plucky staff members singing cute songs while laboring, etc) and wizards so inept that it seemed likely Paizo had been aware and planning for a long time and Wizards had been surprised.
Partially it was playing devil's advocate a bit.

I appreciate James taking the time to share the straight up truth on the subject.

And I am pretty sure that the last supposition, that they're targeting Pathfinder as a replacement for Eberron, is correct.
