Speed Up Item Creation

Are there any feats that can make Item Creation go by quicker (and I would rather skip Epic Feats)

What about a feat that makes created Magic Items cost 25% less ... wouldn't that cut down the number of days?

Artificer (KoK)
DragonSmith (AEG Dragons, Dragon items only)
Magical Artisan (FR)

Andargor

I don't have the other two books you mentioned, but Magic Artisan is the one that lets you create items at 75% regular cost right?

So a 36 day item would only take 27 instead?

Quicker? Why would you need that? It's not as you will actually be sitting there, for 30 actual days, as your character creates a magic item. In all likelyhood, you're either going to schedule that magic item creation session for the day you can't make it to the session, so the rest of the group carries on without you, or the entire group is going to sit around and wait for you to do your magic item creation, perhaps while attending to some background task of their own.

And you want to burn a feat for this?!?

Its for an NPC contractor in the game I run. Some players are commissioning some items, and I want this guy to be spec'd out for construction. Just wondering about how to speed up the process.

Efficient Creation (ELH); multiplies your creation speed by 10x, for the specified item creation feat.

Of course, it's epic, which limits it's applicability ... but it's EXACTLY what you're looking for.

Or just make it nonepic. Forget the rules.

Wizards.com has an epic PrC that will speed up item creation even more. Just make that guy epic, it doesn't matter (the player's don't want to attack him, do they?).

House Rule

Long standing house rule in our campaigns.

Changed creation times for non-scroll/potion items to:

Sqrt(Item Cost)/20 rounded up to the nearest day.

Low value items take longer (no more cranking out +1 armor in a day) and brings the more expensive items down into a range more exceptable for our high-magic campaign.

Potions and scrolls we go by the book - especially since there isn't a mw base item required for a scroll or potion.

I'll second the Efficient Item Creation. Personally, I don't like the fact that the ELH requires a brand new set of feats for making Epic Items *and* Efficient Item Creation only applies to one class of items...

I'd house rule EIC to apply to all item creation, and make your constructor 21st level.

Alternatively, Magical Artisan a few times would be an equivalent non-epic version. Anyhow, later.
