An spell with the "full round" casting time takes a full attack action or it takes not only a full attack action, but I only finish the casting in my next iniciative?

Is there any exception in the PHB?
Staffan said:There are two different "full round" casting times, which causes some confusion.
1. Spells with a casting time of "1 round" (e.g. summon monster). With these spells, the caster is considered to be casting from the start of his action in round N to the start of his action in round N+1. He can take a 5-foot step. He gets his normal action in round N+1.
2. Spells with a casting time of "1 action" that have been metamagicked by a spontaneous caster (sorcerer, bard, cleric swapping out for cure/inflict spells, shugenja). These begin and finish within the space of one full-round action, just like a fighter's full attack. The caster gets a 5-foot step.
Yep. They have a casting time of "1 round". See Staffan's post.Ukyo said:Nothing really, just that my fomer game group think that spells like summon monster takes an entire round, so you only end casting it at your next initiative, so becoming vulnerable to everyone until next round and risking losing the spell.
