Spell Compendium: Shadow Hand

HiHo!

I'm about to take Shadow Hand for my Beguiler, which seems very usefull but I have a few Questions:

-) Can I use it to lift myself or another party member up?

-) Can I use it to hold a door closed ... if yes, what is the str score?

-) Can an enemy run through it? It gives Concelement, but not REAL cover like bigby's interposing hand ... but it can still hold items like tensers floating disk.

Many Thanks in Advance &...

Yes, even though there is some discussion, whether you can ride your own floating disk, this spell specifically states, that it doesn't stay at a fixed range, which is what causes problems with that other spell. And it can carry stuff, including you, of course.

No. It has no Str score. It basically has *passive* strength not *active* strength.

It's a physical entity, created from shadow material. It *should* be able to provide cover, just because of the standard cover rules. If it is between you and an opponent, it's just like when a medium creature is standing there, when it comes to cover.

Thanks!

But about my last question ... I'm quite sure that it does NOT provide Cover but only Concelement ... or it would be much better than Bigbys Interposing Hand which is at the same level but can only give Cover and no Concelement.

Anyway ... if it cannot hold a door, then it should not be able to hold a person away.

A new question:
If the Hand holds something big and heavy and I order it to hover in front of a door, would that hold the door closed?

Those (the door stuff) are questions, that only your DM can answer you, really.

There is no real answer in the rules, so opinions might differ widely.

I would say, that it does not block a door, but that the hand will be pushed away from the door, if it opens.

About the cover. It has hit points, attacks do not go right through the hand. It's medium size. I would definitely have it grant cover (and total concealment against one specified opponent, which I understand as some sort of shadow cloaking effect).

Bye
