Spell Exchange Feat Q&A

Does the link work? They seem to have pulled some stuff from their site. As long as the link works, I don't know what to tell you. It used to be in the files/downloads section, but not anymore by a direct link. Hmmm.

Ah yes, would Arcane Preparation let sorcerors qualify as being virtual arcane preparation of spells. The base text says that it is available to wizards only, but what is the intent? See my previous questions.

I seem to recall that this feat was in a section of the website (unmaintained for ages) that was dedicated to player submissions--it is NOT the work of the D&D design team. Furthermore, I also recall that there was some pretty ridiculous stuff on there, like a horribly designed dragoon PrC (based on Final Fantasy)--the class had 20 levels and you could qualify by 2nd level IIRC, so it was really a base class in drag. It's obvious that the page never had particularly stringent quality control standards, which makes it obvious why it was discontinued; what I always wonder about is why it was put up in the first place. It's not like it performed any function that a random munchkin with a GeoCities page couldn't do. I wouldn't call this a WIZARDS OF THE COAST feat or even treat it as having as much quasi-official status as the average Dragon magazine article.

It has been so long that I didn't remember it being in a player submissions section, just the section with 2nd ed material. Do you have any copies of the page? My players won't believe me unless I can show them physical copies of the page, I'm sure.

No, I don't have any copies of the page. Sorry. For what it's worth, though, you could point out that official WotC stuff is generally distributed in .pdf format rather than .doc.

I've seen four or five different people claim authorship on the feat, no offence to you. How do you see the author of the feat in MS Word? Thanks for the detective work everyone!

No offense taken. I can't expect you to take what I say on faith.

Download the file onto your desktop, right-click it, select "properties", select "summary", look down under "origins."

That's me. :D
