Spell of retrieval?

Hey I was just wondering if someone knew of a spell that allows you to store an item in a magical space to be retrieved later? I know theres Leomands secret chest which kind of works, but I was thinking more along the lines for combat use. I remember reading the spider queen war book where the cleric summons a staff from an extra dimensional space. Thats kind of the idea I was thinking. If My wizard has a powerful staff i'd like to keep it off my person in case i'm captured so that I could summon it for some aid perhaps with a spell stored in it.

Another question is I know you can put a spell on a staff with a druid spell but is there a similar wizard spell?

You could model something off of this-

From the SRD
Glove of Storing

On command, one item held in the hand wearing the glove disappears. The item can weigh no more than 20 pounds and must be able to be held in one hand. While stored the item has negligible weight. With a snap of the fingers wearing the glove, the item reappears. A glove can only store one item at a time. Storing or retrieving an item is a free action. The item is held in stasis and shrunk down so small within the palm of the glove that it cannot be seen. If the effect is suppressed or dispelled, the stored item appears instantly. The creation process yields only one glove.

Caster Level: 6th; Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, shrink item; Market Price: 2,200 gp; Weight: -.

yes

Yes thank you. I currently use gloves of storing for that exact purpose. I'm sorry that I forgot to mention them in the above post. The idea is that if i'm caught they would use detect magic and see the gloves being magical. Right now I hide a wand and a spellbook inside the gloves (I have 2). But I was just thinking of another way with a spell or something that could do this. It seems a really cool spell idea and i'm surprised if its not out there hence why i'm asking. If not perhaps i'll try to make my own spell but I was hoping something was already around.

Well, you could always take the Pulp Fiction approach, and come up with the Ass of Holding spell...

If you're worried about them detecting magic on your person, then you might want to look into Nystul's Undetectable Aura (I'm pretty sure that's the name of the spell). IIRC, it doesn't work on items, but you could use it has a starting to make a spell that would work on items, and then cast that new spell and permanency on your gloves.

The other idea is the called weapon property from Defenders of the Faith. It makes it so that you can call a weapon to you in a fashion similar to what you're looking to do with a staff.

Oo good ideas all. Well if putting an item in an extra dimensional space would leave a faint of magic on me would they be able to figure out what it was?

Second I believe there is an undetectable aura spell for an item that I could use whether or not it can be made permanent is a different question.

I like the called weapon idea, however, if I had a powerful staff it'd either be beyond my power to make or just something my character doesn't usually make. Plus the fact that i'd have to make the staff and have that feat. I suppose I could leawrn that and use it to add called to a powerful staff I found? Does called have a range? IE i'm knocked out and find myself in a cell?

I just can't believe there isn't something like this around. I figured at least something temperary that lasts like an hour per level just so I could cast it over and over or something. So far its looking like I should make a custom of leomunds secret chest/mix of gloves of storing to come up with it.

What about the Drawmij's instant summons spell? Is that still around, or was that only from prior editions of the game? (I'm at a public library; I don't have my books with me.)

It is still around.

I teleports a specially prepared object to your hand at the cost of a 1,000 gp sapphire. It is also fairly high level, but it can bring the object across planar boundaries. Major limitation is that it can't take it away from another creature that has claimed it.
