Spell Slots to Power Point conversion?

Hey, does anyone know of a decent general outline of how it would be best to convert the spell slot system into a power point system? I'm trying to setup an Iron Kingdoms game using psionics instead of magic and would rather like to use the gun mage and what not presented in those books as power point based characters.

Any thoughts?

Has anyone worked out the math behind the number of spell points you get?

For myself I'd just use 1 level of spell slot = 1 spell point. So level a 1 slot gets you 1 point, a level 4 spell gets you 4 points.

Spending them would be 1 point/spell level and including powering meta-magic feats. Casters are limited to spending no more than caster level/2 (round up) spell points per spell.
