Spellcaster Levels and Item Creation

Here's a quick question. We already know that normal spellcasting levels don't stack when deciding whether you can get an item creation feat. (Wiz4/Clr4 is NOT an 8th level spellcaster.)

What about Prestige Classes? They are exactly "new" classes per say. Such as a Cleric/Contemplative. Would levels in classes stack with those in classes where you get "+1 level of existing class"?

If you get +1 level in an existing class then yes. 1+1=2

But that is stated under the number of spells per day, so I'm not sure.

Yes.

If you are a 10th level wizard and a 5th level loremaster, then you are considered a 15th level spellcaster for the purposes of caster level.

I know that, but do they stack as far as prerequisites for Item creation feats?

i.e. Could a Cleric 10/Contemplative 2 take the Craft Staff feat?
