Skills, Languages, and Feats: Concentration (2/+3), Intuit Direction (2/+5), Knowledge: psionics (2/+3), Remote View (4/+5), Sense Motive (4/+9), Psicraft (4/+5), Spot (2/+7); Common, Elven; Attention to Detail, Luck of Heroes, Improved Initiative, Inertial Armor.

Psionic Powers (3 pp): 0 - inkling, missive, my light; 1 - object reading; attack - mind thrust, ego whip; defense - empty mind, thought shield, mental barrier.

Description: Manabu is quite tall, although he often slouches to conceal the fact. Despite this, his movements are smooth and quick. His black hair is cut close to the scalp, and his tanned yellow skin speaks of much time spent outdoors. Apart from the crossbow and quiver on his back he has few possessions, and dresses in a simple explorer's outfit.

Background: Manabu grew up in the island nation of Wa in the east of Toril. His family were servants in the house of a samurai lord, placing them just slightly above farmers and merchants on the social ladder. His father was a scribe, and as the second son Manabu spent his early years carrying messages to other noble houses, temples, and businesses. In doing he became quick and healthy, although he never built up much physical strength. He also learned to observe places and people, and to reflect on the things he noticed.

In his late adolescence Manabu discovered some unusual talents beyond those of his peers. His intuition seemed strong, allowing him to avoid unexpected traffic and bandit attacks. Although he could seldom won when wrestling with his friends, he noticed that their blows and grabs would mysteriously miss. He also avoided many of the accidents common to peasant life: burnt fingers, broken bones, and routine illnesses. By handling objects he could sense the impressions left by previous owners.

Manabu wondered if it had anything to do with the tales and stories his grandmother used to tell him. Late at night, when the two of them were alone, she would speak of his distant ancestors. She said they were heroes who came from the stars to live on the islands of Wa. Although his parents scoffed at the idea, Manabu held it close to his heart.

Then one day it happened: Manabu was delivering a message to another samurai household when he ran into the noble's son, knocking him to the ground. Although Manabu humbled himself and begged forgiveness, the arrogant warrior grabbed a nearby staff and moved to strike him across the shoulders. Manabu felt something in his mind strike out at the man once, twice, three times. The man was stunned, but his eyes stared at Manabu with fear and loathing. Manabu ran from the scene, desperate to escape.

He soon learned that a price had been put on his head. Unwilling to put his family at risk or to shame his lord, Manabu went into hiding. With the help of some friends he found passage with some monks aboard a ship headed for Shou Lung. When he arrived he witnessed a great spectacle: three dragonships rising from the harbor into the air in close formation. Suddenly the words of his grandmother returned. Were these the ships his ancestors travelled in? Could he travel back to their home in the stars?

It took a few years, but eventually the moment arrived. Manabu learned that a passenger ship called the Elegant Interlude was in port. Using his connections, he arranged to meet several elven merchants from the vessel. His shrewd insight into character and his gifts helped them obtain favorable prices on the goods they were seeking. In return, they paid for his passage aboard ship. And so Manabu headed to the stars, hoping to learn more about his past and his future.

Description: WtJ stands 6'2", and somewhat portly, despite his certain grace of movement. Westenberger is an extremely flamboyant dresser, always clad in his signature blaze-red hooded tunic, and a crimson velvet cloak, with a stiff collar and four long strips of starched velvet, two projecting out from the lapels and two from the scruff in defiance of gravity. Most of his equipment is standard, with the Steelheart Chimera being a notable exception. The Steelheart Chimera is a longsword with an ornate hilt of a stylized chimera and bearing the blue and silver Westeberger Coat of Arms. The blade is made from a bluish material called stormsteel, which is steel made from iron ore that has been struck repeatedly by natural lightining.

Brandon Westenberger the Jovial was born to a minor bureaucrat in the Imperium of Greater Axis, a tyrannical empire that poises to conquer the Neer planet. Like his uncle, Edward Westenberger the Discerning, He showed a potential in wizardry that is a Westenberger genetic marker, but was possessed of a contriving curiosity. That curiosity led him to study the dark arts of Necromancy in forbiddance of his uncle's decree. In the resulting argument, Westenberger snapped and left, taking an old family sword and reckless abandon on his new journey.

Westenberger soon took up a position as ship's mage aboard the spelljammer ship Elegant Interlude and began making the rounds between Axis in Neer and Thay in Toril, trading Axis luxury items for Thayan magic items. On his 3rd journey, a scuffle with a Zhentarim minor agent, Jhonen Hatecraft, led to a deadly rivalry and a potential conflict between the sailors of the Elegant Interlude and the black network, one in which the sailors would definitely lose. Westenberger wants to rip the black network down and lay the Red Wizards low. Given his recklessness, he may very well do so...

Description: 5'5" tall, 141 lbs, 17 years old. Caelano is blond and fairskinned, like his father, but small, like his mother. He has a wide, friendly mouth, and a slightly turned up nose. He was a very hyperactive child, constantly on the run and getting into (and out of) trouble. Climbing (and falling from) trees and rooftops. He drove his older brothers crazy with his antics. In retaliation, they would lock him in a closet. Or at least they would try- Caelano was very nimble at evading them. Sometimes they would catch him where he could not duck away, and that would be pure torment: Caelano suffers from claustrophobia to this day.

An innkeeper's son from Kalamar, Caelano was trapped into a diabolical contract by a guest at his father's inn. A visit to see a marvellous palace turned into a one way trip to another plane, where he became a house-boy of Shomei the Infernal. Here he remained until, according to his verbal contract, he could "get back on his own."

This occurred years later after discovering an odd map while dusting in the library. The margin and back of the map was inscribed with "Endless Journey," the holy book of the Traveller (a Kalamaran deity), and re-awakened in Caelano the desire to get out of the opulent (but spooky and oppressive) palace and see the stars. The Traveller heard his prayers, and one day Caelano was able to find a one-way portal to Gnol, a trading asteroid in Realmspace. His desire to travel and see the stars was fulfilled more than he would have thought possible!

His experience with devil-kind has given Caelano an uncanny skill with words, one far in advance of his years. He also speaks Infernal fluently. His period of service with Shomei did not corrupt him, though; far from it- it made him despise evil, servitude and rigid legislation. He can work within such a system, however, and is very good at concealing his true feelings about it. Caelano is a devout, though ignorant, follower of the Traveller, and enjoys his god's favor.

Friendly, bright, hardworking and quick, Caelano was easily able to talk his way into a job on the Elegant Interlude. He does not consider himself a cleric, but if given the chance to spelljam, his spell-casting ability will be apparent.

Description:
Zhangyong is a Vanara who hails from Bhalluka, one of the Seven Kingdoms of Mahasarpa. His face is distinctly monkeylike, with a protruding muzzle, furred cheeks and a wide, lipless mouth. His body is covered with light blue fur. He has a long, semiprehensile tail, long fingers & toes and large ears, but his arms, legs & torso are proportioned like a human. Zhangyong is curious, bluntly honest, incredibly loyal & extremely brave.

Background:
The Brahmins of Bhalluka are dedicated to warfare against the Yuan-ti of the ruined kingdom of Mahasarpa. Zhangyong, as a Brahmin of the temple of Mahaballa (The Great Bear Spirit), has been trained from birth to lead the ferocious Devapalas (Sohei) of his temple in missions against the accursed & vile serpent-folk that are threatening to overwhelm his homeland. On his first such mission, Zhangyong and the rest of his party were betrayed by a Silent Storm assassin, who was posing as one of Zhangyong's Devapalas. The entire party was ambushed by Yuan-ti and, in the ensuing melee, all of Zhangyong's brethren were massacred. The assassin and the Yuan-ti left Zhangyong for dead along with the others. How Zhangyong survived, he does not know. He believes that The Great Bear Spirit spared him for a greater purpose. Zhangyong was able to follow the trail of the betrayer and his vile compatriots far into the Mahasarpa jungle. When he finally caught up with them, he couldn't believe what he saw. A ship unlike any he had ever seen descended from the clouds. The Yuan-ti greeted those who disembarked as though they were Devas (Gods). When Zhangyong realized that the assassin was readying to depart on the ship, he used his natural Vanaran abilities to sneak on board. Here was the purpose for which he was spared! To track this assassin, find out about his connections with the people from the cloudship and use that information to destroy all of his foes...
