SpellJammer

Why did Spelljammer stop geting product support? I know TSR had a lot of ssettings and that SpellJammer was also really a niche product. So, that probably contributed to it. But is there even a remote possibility of new SJ stuff?

Yes, I know about that Dungeon magazine spider moon thing, but I will never be able to get that.

Spelljammer is great!

The characters in my Forgotten Realms campaign just got into Spelljammer. I placed the Rock of Bral in Realmspace.

There are a few rule and concept tweaks I've done to make it less silly, but I still think it is a very cool game.

You've answered it there. I loved it and owned it, but very few people seemed to like or get the setting. So, out of a sea of contenders, Spelljammer possibly had one of the smallest audiences out there. Heck, maybe even Birthright and Hollow World had bigger fan bases! ;)

A damn shame, I rather liked it. But if I remember correctly there was some kind of "homemade" 3.0 conversion manual on the net (which was sort of useful provided you actually owned the product).

Here's the WotC approved official web site for spelljammer. It has some 3E rules on the matter.

Yeah, it was a setting that people either loved or hated. I enjoyed it very much and was a nice alternative to plane hopping for lower level characters.

As Sledged pointed out there are some great sites out there that still support it. I would love to see more spheres/worlds added, maybe as a group projects.

Yep, too niche. Nope, likely will never see it again.

Like others here, I love Spelljammer. Just as MojoGM has done, I've had my FR characters go up to the Rock of Bral (which I also put in Realmspace - in the Tears of Selune).

It is amazing fun to have characters zip through a dense asteroid field in their little Mosquito spelljammers... and then crash full speed into said asteroids.

Hi,

I loved it too! I ran two campaigns -- one that started with Wildspace and took the PCs who'd been through Curse of the Azure Bonds into space, and a second one just before 3e came out set in the Astromundi Cluster. The group that played in the second one still ask me from time to time whether I'd run it for them again!

Cheers

Richard
