Spells and Spellcraft

Aven, in haunting these boards for a couple of years now I've seen better mechanics for EVERY subject presented in the book, posted here at least once.

And frequently the proof-reading is better.

You're dead-on about the proof-reading (goddamn backwards charts) and, you're probably right about there being better mechanics for everything here on the boards. Be a dear and compile, print, and hard-bind them for me, would you ? I'll even cover shipping...

Or find a d20 product that fits you better. THat's one of the great things about this d20 game.

Well, I did browse through quite a bit of things, but didn't have a whole lot of time to look. I'll definitely be buying new books, have no fear of that. :)

I agree with Psion, this book is better for modifying things in already existing world, rather than add something new or innovative like Wild Sorcery or Shamans. It DOES offer some stuff on building libraries (magical and mundane) which I found useful, and a few other tidbits. The alternative feats/bloodlines were a nice touch...but I think I'd like to see more done with it. Still not bad.

Actually Croth, I didn't MUCH care for the rituals presented here. Probably cause I think R&R did a better job, but that's just me.

So I'm glad I have it but I'm not as hard on about it as Kap was. Still I'm positive it's not a bad investment.

Hey James you have Bluffside yet? :) I'd suggest that then if you want to spend that much on a book and don't want Spells and Spellcraft.

Relics and Rituals did a better job of rituals. However, I really liked the way S&Sc defined the few rituals and brought them to life. Also, they included rituals for Paladins and Rangers. That was a nice touch.

Personally, I think both products should have spent more pages on their rituals.

Well the atonement cermony was nice...but I didn't think it was THAT necessary. I usually just do quest that helps aid in the atonement.

Not sure I understand what you mean about BOTH products? What about R&R rituals did you feel needed expositioning on?

LOL! :) Well I can name some products that DO have true rituals in them. The Divine and the Defeated has at least five or six. I think the Wise and Wicked has one. I know Secrets and Societies has one. (A more potent version of Burial Blessing) After that...I'm not sure since my collection is incomplete just right now.

Yeah, I wasn't really jazzed by the ceremonies/rituals. R&R pretty much did that one right the first time (and my players have actually started using it! w00t!)

I don't play in the scared lands so getting these other products just for the rituals is not really cost effective. I never sdaid it was a particuliar good reason. :D

Sweet! :) Most of my players use assasin sense if they pick any spell out of there.

Croth: I understand but if you wanted to find more those are where they are. Not cost effective I'll agree BUT just trying to be helpful! ;)
