Spells vs DR question

I'm pretty sure there was a thread in here debating whether blade barrier was affected by DR. A long thread.
Could you possibly direct me to it? It seems like someone like Hypersmurf would've set the matter straight fairly quickly.

My personal view: Slashing/piercing/bludgeoning damage is affected by DR, whatever the source. Other damage isn't.

This is how things are stated in the Complete Psionic clarification on power damage, I think.

Technically, Complete Psionic says that Metacreativity powers that specifies s/p/b damage is affected by DR. Metacreativity is a category of powers.

Does this imply that all psionic powers are affected by DR? I don't think so, but I'm not a rule-master. Hopefully someone will post additional information regarding this.

Hey, this might be a good question for askwizards.

Ah, no. I don't think so. It specifically mentions metacreativity powers that do piercing, slashing, or bludgeoning damage. None of the energy powers should be affected.
But I really wonder why it's supposed to be handled differently than, say 'blade barrier'?
I'd be fine with the ruling if it applied to spells creating physical weaponry of any kind, as well. But it doesn't, so I choose to ignore it (just like the astral construct nerf) :)

I've always wanted to house rule in that force effects are just like physical attacks. They are affected by DR. But since they are spells they are considered from a magic effect and will bypass DR X/Magic.

yea... that is how i felt. just did not seem 'right'.
