Spirit companion movement to CS

I asked WOTC CS this:

Customer (Brett Sampson) 03/20/2009 08:06 AM
If my shaman is immobilized or slowed, does my spirit also suffer the same effects? The spirit calling features says it takes a move action when I do, so I thought that if for some reason I do not, or can not, move, my spirit does not either.

And this is the response....

Brett,

Unfortunately, there isn’t an official answer for the situation you describe. I’ve passed along this conversation to the game’s developers. Hopefully, we’ll see an update or FAQ entry covering it soon, but until then it’s up to the campaign’s Dungeon Master to decide. The DM is always the final arbiter on how they want their campaign to run. Have fun!

Thank you,

1) Immobilization does not prevent you from taking move actions. It merely prevents most forms of movement. If you have ways to take a move action other than those prevented forms of movement, then your spirit companion can move your speed.

For example, if you had the warlord utility power Knight's Move (it's a move action), you could use that and that would allow your spirit to move. Immobilized prevents you from leaving your square... your conjurations are not beheld to that state.

2) If you are slowed, your speed is 2. So no matter what your move action is, your spirit would move your speed, which is 2. Slowed -does- affect your spirit companion, because slowed affects your speed, which spirit movement is based on.
