[SPOILERS] Smallville "Shattered" - 11/19/03

>>>Henry - The end scene was very masterful. Very well done, and when Lex eventually kills his father - it's going to happen, it's written on the wall - the circle will be very complete.<<<

>>>John Crichton - I've always thought that it will be Clark that inadvertantly kills Lionel and is the final straw that ends their friendship and starts their nemesis relationship. Or something like that.<<<

'bout the only thing which would put Lex over (while sane) so as to off Lionel is finding out Lionel could have saved his mother... but did not, 'for Lex's own good'.

I say this because early on Lex has very fond memories of his mother. It seemed as if she was trying to curb some of Lionel's more 'extreme' child rearing habits.

If Lionel did let Lex's mother die (oh, so soap opera I know) Lex will be the Luthor from the comics once and forever.

EDIT: Lionel would not just let his wife die to get control ove Lex, he would have a good business reason as well... like he always does.

Great ep by the way, Hooby!

Lex puts the camera and the evidence in his secret safe. We now see someone cutting the glass to Lex's office. He breaks in and targets Lex with his gun. Lex sees the red dot (which is really the only part of the ep that I hated, simply because it makes no sense and is completely cliche) and avoids the first shot.

Hey John, by the end of this episode I am pretty sure that Lex was Supposed to see the red dot of the laser sight. The 'break in guy' was there to mess with Lex's mind. Thus the faking of 'Security Guys' "death."

I hate to say but Clark kind of made things worse for Lex at the end of the show by letting him see his power and then taking off, making it look like he was more crazed than he was. ;)

Poor Lex! I feel bad for him- I don't want to see him go "bad." With the relationship he has with Clark I would like to see Clark let him in on 'the secret' because they have said that they feel like they are brothers.
Of course with the inevitable outcome of Lex=Bad and Clark=good(Superman) it is a foregone conclusion...

It's possible, but I doubt it. I'm sure if a shot was fired that it would have purposely missed, which would have served the same goal. Honestly, check any recent movie or TV show where there is some kind of assassination - there is always a dot. Makes no sense. No sniper would have a laser-sight.

But I do see your point and it is possible. :) Who knows what the writers were thinking?
