Spontaneous casting

But a cleric does have an option not available to sorcerers (barring the Arcane Preparation feat from Tome & Blood). He can prepare a quickened cure light wounds (for example) in a fifth-level slot.

I don't know why he'd want to-but he can. :)
Quickened minor wounds was used by a friend for stabilizing fallen comrades.

Or killing them while pretending to heal them I suppose ;)

In nwn the healing domain I believe gave something like, 'whenever you cast a cure spell that was memorized, rather than spontaneously generated, it was automatically empowered for free'. That would make for a tough call of whether or not to memorize at least a few extras here and there! (much better than the +1 caster level ;) )

But taking that feat would do absolutely nothing for him. He can ALREADY prepare Cure Spells Metamagicked ahead of time, and something allowing him to give up a prepared spell for a spell he has to already have prepared wouldn't do anything. That would defeat the entire purpose of spontaneously casting.

That's why I like that old houserule where clerics can exchange all spells spontaneously with their domain spells instead of healing...

Btw: That Quickened CMW was usually (if not needed) used as a spontaneous Cure Critical Wounds.

You can't quicken a spontaneous cure, just like you can't quicken a sorc spell, the increase in casting time prevents it.
Sorry in case I expressed myself misunderstandably...

He prepared in his usual cleric like spell casting manner a Cure Minor Wounds with the Quicken Metamagic feat in his 4th level slot. If that spell was not used, he converted the spell slot into a spontaneous Cure Critical Wounds.
