CAEDMON
The first division of the Northern Army, commanded by General Ingmar is sent ahead to prepare base camp. Under Field Marshall Torin, commander of the whole Northern Army, the remaining four divisions are undergoing reconditioning and revision of highland tactics for possible and probable confrontation with the giant incursion.
First announced in Creighton, the news of Queen Telenessa's pregnancy came as a pleasant surprise to King Dolan, and the news has spread throughout the kingdom and sent by ship to Lorlynia.
Prince Bjorn is proving to be a charismatic leader as well as a capable tactician. Though he has not been involved in anything major, losses are inevitable in any kind of armed conflict, but Bjorn's men look favorably upon him and moral is high.
On the Ulruzian front, Caedmonish and Allied troops, consisting of Ulruzian Loyalist Legions, Kinrisair irregulars, Suryanastan Cavalry, and Lorlynian Rangers, have engaged in a minor skirmish with rebel forces and their Centaur allies. Caedmonish commanders have noticed that improved comunication between the many allied factions would increase the coheasiveness of allied efforts and dispaches are sent to the other military authorities.
CRYNDON
With work on the fortress now called Dolan's Fist completed, the Cryndonites begin skirmishes with the giants. They send out expeditionary forces to locate the giants and gather more tactical information during the first month, with a few minor engagements occuring. During the next two months, a series of cave-ins are created by the dwarves, collapsing the tunnels and caves being used by the giants. This is done with sublety and great pains are take to make them appear random.
KINRISAR
The Kinrisar Navy sails from Doluhre to the west. Far from land and out of sight of the normal fishing vessels they turn north. The fleet lands the Infantry contingent along the coastline of the Asheregnome Hills. Supply lines are established through Cryndon.
Activity in western Kinrisar seems to be increasing. Pirates are seen more commonly along the trade routes supplying Crolon. Forays from monsters and organized tribes of humanoids are becoming more frequent and violent. A recent patrol of the Crolon Militia was captured by a band of kobolds under the leadership of a kobold sorceror. Rumors say that the kobolds had waited in ambush for the supposedly secret patrol.
Prea Abo continues to be abuzz with rumors of the Smoking Claw in operation there. Little hard evidence is forthcoming though. This only serves to fuel the fires of those who talk of such things. Tibo is spared this season from any further attacks by the dragon. Repairs of the docks are in progress, but the winter weather and storms prevent any significant progress.
The capitol is quiet. King Hadri and his advisors remain in contact with the fleet and Infantry through magical means. All attention of the court seems to be focused on that. So much so that the ascension of a second arch-mage in the College Arcane goes unnoticed for several days. Two flames now burn from the uppermost tower of the College. The identity of the newest Arch-Mage remains unknown to the general public and the wizards are not talking.
LORLYNIA
The coming of spring is is greeted with the sound of clashing armies around Idenynia. The orcs pour out of their winter strongholds and push to finally take Idenynia from the elves. Thor Emblem is more than ready for them. The recruits from Barbenia, graduates from the Academy there, and seasoned in the surrounding areas during this last winter rise to the occasion and not only hold the armies of foul orcs back, but they begin to push the defilers of the forest north. At this point Narok reveals his secret plan. Hordes of undead boil from underground hideouts behind the lines of the elven allies, cutting them off from retreat. As the spring rains come to an end, many heroes find themselves on the wrong side of an army of undead. Pockets of elves and humans continue to hold out and wait for a miracle to save them.
As if tiding weren't dire enough; red, blue and green dragons have been reported to be aiding the orcs and seem almost unstoppable.
MITTENDEIN
As the snows begin to thaw, rumors surface about an ancient artifact known by many names; among them are the Betrayer's Blade, Tilarmo's Bane, and the Dagger or Eraekoth. The chaotic weapon is being pursued by several groups and organizations both official and unofficial; though it is definitely in the kingdom somewhere, no two sources seem to agree. (This event on hold while a campaign proceeds.)
The mayor of Schwarzburg is discovered assassinated, the killing weapon left in his chest of obvious Dwarven make. His assistant, filling in until a new mayor is appointed, makes no accusations, but two dwarves are injured in reprisals from the human population before the Baron dispatches an extra contingent of soldiers to keep the peace. Schwarzburg is under martial law until investigations proceed further.
RHAAVIN
The bounty contest continues on. It is to last possibly two full years depending on how successful it is. There is some whispers that the semi-reknown SS Fortuna would do well in the contest should it enter. Of course many other ships are whispered as being good contestants in the contest. Meanwhile the druids of the island, of both factions, seem to have ceased their warring for a time. Though only they themselves will ever truly know why.
THORADUR
The spring sun begins to melt the heavy snows of winter in the kingdom of the dwarves. The long winter gives a late start to hill dwarf farms and a prolonged season of frost giant attacks in Dalir. King Grimstone sends a small number of soldiers to help the miners with the troglodyte threat. It was expected that the troglodytes will have already have fled deeper into their tunnels and the miners could mine on. Instead the troglodytes overwhelmed the few soldeirs and hilldwarf clansmen warriors. The troglodyte capture the local village and begin raiding into the countryside. Word is sent to the capital, Galthurdor to send imediate aid.
In Falinus word of trouble across the border in Schwartzburg keeps hill dwarves uneasy. Extra guards are stationed at the bridge at Schwartzburg.
In the north work continues on the towers and keeps in the steppes.
In Lower Thoradur the mountain dwarves make a major push in the northern tunnels led by Prince Haldan and a renown band of dwarven battleragers called the Bloodfued. The Prince is successful.
ULRUZ
The repaired fleet of the Kinrisar sail west, apparently leaving Ulruz, but they then swing north, and the allied army takes the rich but uncontrolled Ashegnome Hills in preparation for the summer campaign season, supplied through Cryndon.
The rebel Legions begin to march with haste towards the vulnerable Doluhre, a season earlier than Antonius’ spies predicted. Panic ensues. Emperor Antonius marshals all forces close enough to arrive in time, and they man the extensive defenses that were constructed all winter, while his remaining Legions march north to slow the enemy army down. Riders are sent to the Kinrisar, but they will not arrive in time.
In a completely surprise move, however, as the rebel forces engage the small loyal contingent, a vast force of cavalry arrive from the East. All three sides halt, and a flurry of negotiations begin. In the end, the new Emperor is the one who gets the Surnayasta support, though the cost is great; Ulruz must loosen trade restrictions for the Suryanasta, and guarantee the Suryanasta western border’s security and agreement not to expand north of Suryanasta itself in the future, which Antonius agrees to.
The battle, then, consists of Antonius' troops, the Kinrisari allies, the Suryanasta cavalry, the Caedmon mercenaries, and the Lorlynian Seledyne Rangers on one side, and the now heavily entrenched renegade Prince and his marauding Centaur allies on the other. The resulting battle is inconclusive, as neither side wishes to engage heavily, and both rebel and Imperial forces withdraw after only a token engagement.
