I'd be interesting in hearing what these manuscripts consist of and what they would add to Spycraft.

That said, generally speaking, AFAIAC, Spycraft 2.0 is the game of choice when it comes to modern espionage and action, whether it be gritty or larger-than-life.

Because a few people have asked -- the manuscripts are adventures, originally written for the JAMES BOND 007 RPG campaign that I ran when I was in college. All that remains is for them to be re-statted, and layed out all purty. :)

Is there any reason you couldn't do it for all three?

Depends on the licensing requirements. I'm not sure if True20 or Spycraft allow "shared" products, since they're supposed to be branded for the system.

Plus, this poll was to check to see which options even had a demand.

FWIW, there's been one before (Black Knight Casino). But that was under AEG's watch, not Crafty's. Not sure how the landscape might have changed.

If it's just adventures, then yeah, Spycraft would probably be the way to go. Dual stat for d20 Modern would add value (if the license allows) too.

Now if you were starting from scratch like with Thrilling Tales, an espionage game for True20 would be the way to go - it's an untapped niche.

Spycraft 2.0 is compatible with all the d20 Modern mechanics--it just has more. You could take a SC 2.0 product, ignore the extras and play it as is with d20 Modern. Any time something referenced "increase the error range by one" (or some other extra SC mechanic) you could easily just skip it.

NPC's would be a bit more of a challenge. Here the d20 Modern system would be more of a burden since SC makes much quicker NPC's, but if you defaulted to fully stat'ed NPC's with a little extra description about the unique to SC abilities... again you would have a d20 Modern compatible product.

Going from SC 2.0 to d20 Modern isn't 100% clean, but it is pretty simple and straight-forward. Where as trying to fluff up a d20 Modern to SC conversion would basically be a re-write since the extras would be missing.

The same is true of True20. Cutting out the extra is easier than trying to fill it in.

Regardless... no 3rd party effort is wasted. Any effort at new material is only going to make the genre stronger.

What would you do for a chase scene or other dramatic conflict? You might have get by with something a lot simpler for d20 modern, like boil it down to a few skill checks.

Spycraft..the system is sooo good. And IMHO needs more support.

True20...I realise that it can be done. I can't get over seeing this only used for fantasy.
If you don't use magic then that limits it to only 2 roles to choose from. I guess you could create more. I don't think there are enough poeple on the True20 wagon.

Since you're in this for the money (you are a business) I'd got either d20 modern or Spycraft.
If your making sourcebooks, I'd like to see it with the SC 2 rules. However if you'd be making adventures then I really don't care. SC 2.0 makes it so quick to stat stuff up converting is a breeze.
