[Spycraft] 60's Decade Book!

I got the 60s decade book for Spycraft yesterday and it looks very nice. It has some great material, such as plot hooks for events throughout the 60s, so you can make your own "untold stories."

One of the neatest mechanical add ons is that they have a sort of "climate" for different periods to help create a certain mood. Very slick addition to d20. I like it!

I saw this and am really tempted to pick it up as well.

Were there any notable mechanics in there that you thought were cool Psion?

I would definitly buy a 1970's book of this sort.

You mean other than the climate thing? Other than that, it's mostly normal spycraft fare, like feats, classes, and equipment, and a few add-on resolution mechanics.

The espionage climate prevails. The climate describes an overall mood in the espionage community. For example "cool heads prevail" or "spies must die." Each one has particular mechanics that encourage the behavior of the climate. For example, "cooler heads prevail" encourages combat.

Now here's the real cool thing IMO: the missions have default climates, and the climate of the game changes depending on the outcome of the mission.

Well, I think it's cool, at least.

There's one review up, mine should be up soon too.

I too could see a 70s or 80s book, and think this is a good model.

Glad you liked those, as they were my cool idea for the week (month, really)while working on that book :p. They were inspired a little bit by the CCG Shadowfist, where 'edge' cards could reshape the whole "world" by adding one or two meta-rules :). The ability of players to alter the world espionage climate through their actions makes them more interactive than just "part of the rules we have to live with". Now when the enemy tends to offer a little quid pro quo, or takes up a policy of shoot first, then shoot again, you know why... and might even be responsible for it!

I'll look forward to your review :).
