How would you modify these rules to accomodate a mercenary group with no attached "organisation"?

With no means of requisitioning equipment, it's hard to justify mission-based budget/gadget points. I'm toying with various idea - this is what I've come up with so far:

Personal Budget - this is stuff owned by the character permanently. He keeps it from mission to mission, although he may change it between missions.

Mission Budget - this is stuff "acquired" on a mission-by-mission basis by the team from various sources (sort of like the way the fixer gets stuff in the field).

Gadget Points - works like Personal Budget. The Wheelman might have a souped up car, for example, which he continues to improve over time by adding more gagdet points.

Field Expenses - hard to justify. The best thing I could come up with is that the these represent the fee obtained from completing the previous mission after all regular expenses are accomodated (food, shelter etc.) This way, the players don't negotiate a fee each time, they just get this amount.

Any thoughts? Also, how would you modify the Fixer's ability to requisition stuff during the game?

Check the A-Team thread and the discussion re Faceman as a Face/Fixer.

Anyway Faceman uses his charm to con people into supplying him stuff (so you could give the Fix a conman ability)

The other thing is for a Mecenary group their current client becomes their 'Agency'

So a floating Agency is the way to go here

Everything else you suggests workd - make BP and GP actual assets owned by the PC (say a Swiss Bank Account)

Of course they will also no doubt have 'underworld' contacts who may support them (a system of favours etc)

PS I checked the background story too and Templeton Peck (Faceman) was actually the A-Teams Supply officer

It's easy: If you are a mercenary you always ask half the fee up front. What kind of mercenary chump risks his life on a mission without getting part of the payment first?

The Mission Budget, gadgets and field expenses simply come from the pockets of the employer. You probably acquire the illegal or high tech stuff through various underworld contact, but the money required to do so is provided by the employer.

Yellow, Red and Black missions would also reflects how much money the employer is throwing your way to make his will happen.

Department: They reflect where you originally learned your trade before becoming a mercenary. For example a D-6 PC could be an ex Mossad assassin. Or Russian Mafia. Or whatever.
