[Spycraft] The A-Team

Just one question for Kevin Wilson:

I understand why you would think of Commander Bond as a 20th level Pointman, but isn't it kind of silly for his special ability to be giving action dice to his teammates? Most of his missions are done solo, after all.

I'd say give him 1 level of Faceman for his first level, giving him the Adaptable core ability. Or maybe even a level of Soldier, since he has the special movie power of "kill just about anything I shoot at." Soldier would also make sense for the weapon proficiencies, he does use tactical and hurled weapons at certain points.

Beyond the core ability, though, I agree that he would be a Pointman. I also see his department as being either the Home Office or the Power Brokerage.

But that's just my take...

Silly of all of us to forget...EVERYONE on the A-Team (at least the original incarnation) was in the army...so everyone should get at least a few levels of soldier. They didn't start getting the other classes until after their prison escape.

Well actually iirc the A-Team was a special assault team who were brought together BECAUSE of their 'class abilities' it was those same abilities that let them escape and become mecenaries for hire

BA Baracus Soldier 4 Fixer 2 Wheelman 2

Jaerdaph Love those Feats Pity the fool is just too funky (and at last feats for low stats!)

The Proffesionals Urban Assaul: Soldiers

Mcgyver Fixer

dpmcalister why would you consider Face to be a Face/Fixer?

If you have a problem and no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team

Hmm, I don't remember that ever being said. Was there a particular episode where this stuff was explained, or was I just oblivious to that fact all these years?

Heard during the opening credits each episode

"Ten years ago a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team."

At various points in through the series it is alluded to that they were sent by a high ranking officer to steal gold from somewhere or other (can't remember) but that the officer who sent them in died whilst they were on mission and when they were caught noone was able to attest to their innocence...

It's said quite explicitly in a lot of episodes - it was the Bank of Hanoi. Their background got pretty well covered as the series progressed, especially towards the end when they were working for the government.

Don't forget that despite the six quadzillion[*] rounds of ammunition fired during the life of the show, no-one ever got killed, or even hit.

From this, we can deduce that everyone in the A-team has BAB of -10 or thereabouts. Or perhaps they had the Staged Fighting feat from Bastion's Ink & Quill download, that lets you convert all damage taken to subdual.

[*] a highly technical term, equivalent to 42 deciquatloos.

They must all have the Merciful enchantment on their guns. It was very rare for anyone to get hurt. The grenades seem to be enchanted with Fear spells, as the bad guys surrender, rather than get blown up.

Geoff.

Still, doesn't that mean they were in the army? I mean...Hannibal was a colonel. That would imply that they had at least some military training...hence the few levels in soldier for each of them.

Well, yes. "A-team" is Special Forces lingo for a tactical unit comprising 12 men, from which larger units are built. IIRC, Hannibal, Face et al were actually supposed to be ex-Green Berets, hence the name of the show.
