Spyware & Pop ups

Anybody here know of good (and free) programs to get rid of spyware and pop ups? After having seven pop up ads come up at once on my computer two nights ago, I've had it.

I've checked out cnet.com which has a good selection of utilities for this purpose, but the user comments are mixed.

Adaware sounds good, but apparently you can't look at what you're deleting and it can delete good files along with the bad. In a pop up stopper I want something that will get rid of the ads, but allow legitimate pop up windows to open.

Any recommendations?

Pop-Up Killer for pop-ups works pretty good.

Ad-Aware kills spyware from your system.

you can look at what you're deleting with Ad-aware.

After it scans your system, it gives a list of the offending files and you have to manually click a check box for each, one by one, to tell it which files to delete. It doesn't just delete them automatically.

Thanks, omokage. I read the user comments and some said that you couldn't look at the files.

omokage is right. Ad-aware lets you see the stuff before you delete it (if that's what ya wanna do with it).
