SRD Question

Neruda7

First Post
Everyone was so helpful with the PDF question that I thought I would try my luck again...

I have scourged the SRD on the Wizards' site for any mention of the Yuan-Ti, but it seems that information is closed content. Yet, in the Scarred Lands campaign setting they are mentioned often.

Is this a case of Swords & Sorcery gaining permission from Wizards or am I missing something?

As always, thanks for the helpful replies...

Regards,
Scott

Guess so - or it was done before the Yuan-Ti were removed from the SRD (as part of the "gentlemen's agreement" IIRC).

See, there are a couple of products out there which include PI creatures (my most popular example: Unveiled Masters, deiling with Mind Flayers).

But no matter what's the cause for others to include these (be it an agreement with WotC or even by accident...), that doesn't mean you can.

IANAL. And go see one. Now ;)

Thanks for the confirmation Stephan - I figured it had to be something like that.

Any chance you could answer one more question? Is the content on the Wizards website open content or is that closed? I am specifically referring to a creature on their Monster Mayhem page. Any light you could shed on this would be most appreciated...

Thanks,
Scott

Unless they explicitly state that it is open content, it isn't. You might be allowed to use it if you ask politely, but that still doesn't make it open. It just means you have permission.

Aaron

As always, IANAL.
