SRD rules in TiddlyWiki Format?

Unfortunately, wikis have their own markup languages, completely different from HTML. I wonder, though, if I could just get the whole pile of d20SRD.org files. That'd work fine for me. I can edit HTML as easily as I can edit a wiki...
If you use Firefox, there is a web spider add-on which is great for grabbing sites to view/play with offline.

There's one copy of the SRD in MediaWiki format here:
http://www.d20db.com/Main_Page

And one here:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

You can export the pages and import them into your own MediaWiki.
Aw, those look great. And I imagine I could take the "All articles" list and dump it into the "Export pages" form, and get an (unspeakably huge) XML file containing all the data for the whole wiki. Very, very nice. I'll have to look into this WOS thing, because this is starting to look like an extremely viable way to homebrew the living crap out of D&D, just like I've always wanted.

Yeah, that's definitely a possibility, too. It seems vaguely rude, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't do it. d20SRD.org is a tremendously awesome site, and I covet it.

Rude depends on the site nature. Mirroring an ad-supported site is kinda rude (assuming the ads actually make a profit) while mirroring a fan-supported site is a kindness as it means you aren't sucking down bandwidth.

I'll mirror sections of WotC's site to strip all the useful bits because they are post-purchase support and I'm thoroughly hooked on their product so the in-house advertising is wasted on me. I won't mirror ENworld's review site because I'd be robbing the site of the ad revenue generated by my perusals.

Thats why you need to convert it over, both Wiki and HTML are very structured so it makes for an easier task

The hassle of entering/converting is what I am trying to avoid. Making an SRD is a project all to itself.

I will share what I come up with regardless. Hopefully someone out there knows of one.

If enough of us got together to work on one, I doubt it would be that difficult. If I were to set up such a project, I'd use Google Code to create the revision control system, we could use TortoiseSVN software to commit changes to the Google Code project, and then set up a list of who converts what. One or two people with extra time go through and double-check for errors. One or two go through to add links to items as needed. I'd also suggest a standard name format for the Tiddlers.

If anybody's interested in helping, I could have the project up and started by sometime tomorrow.

Why not write a small app that reads in the XML from the SRD wiki mentioned above, and then exports the data in the format required to add it to the HTML file that is the Tiddlywiki? Ultimately, it's only a matter of cut and paste, once the formatting is right.

Just A Thought,
Flynn

Why not is pretty simple... Tiddly Wiki and Media Wiki are very different beasts. Pages that display fine with Media Wiki need to be broken down into smaller components for Tiddly Wiki. Not to mention the formatting issues, and the fact that TW uses Tags, while Media Wiki uses Categories, which don't quite convert well to Tags. I'd think, unless there is an actual converter already written out there, it would be easy, and better constructed, if a TW SRD was done from scratch using just the rtf's or pages from another SRD source.

I did try grabbing XML's from the above two sites, but my head imploded a bit at the different syntax and methods...

In any case, I have a preliminary project started over at Google Code, here. The first release contains everything I stopped at, and has a Todo list. If anybody wants to contribute time to it, just let me know so we can focus our efforts without duplicating stuff.
