[SS] Solar, Planetar, Black Slaad, and LeShay level progressions

I think the creator of these is definitely onto something.

The way it works, and I like this alot, is that these creatures don't really come into their greatest power until after 20th level. When they make it to this point, they suddenly begin to sky-rocket in power, until they reach the point of their natural maximum (without class levels).


That said, I think the LeShay should be spread just a little bit more (maybe to 40 levels). The Black Slaadi looks pretty close (maybe 30-35), as does the Solar and Planetar.

After a certain amount of fiddling, I think I found a version of the leShay monstrous class that I like. It has 38 levels rather than 32.

I think that the other monstrous classes also have to be stretched a bit. (At least, the Black Slaad one does).

Upper_Krust suggests that the LeShay be a 52 level class. He also has quite a different spin on what "CR" should mean. On the basis of his new PDF, EL should probably replace CR when it is used as a statistic in the leShay document.

I think I would move up some of the powers. It seems ridiculous to wait so long for immunity to poison and disease. And other monstrous classes get "at will" teleportation much, much earlier.

But the class will look rather strange- most of the special abilities "front-loaded" into the first 20 levels, and then a long "tail" when all they do is gain hit dice, abiliity scores, and a few improvements to DR.

Hmmm. I'll have to think about all this a bit more... Any other comments on these conversions (not mine, the original ones)?

The 52 level version is attached. The term "CR" is replaced by EL, as defined by Upper_Krust in his "Challenging Challenge Ratings" PDF.

This version of the leShay gets most special abilities by the mid level 20s, gets most of his ability score boosts in the late 20's and thirties, and gets the bulk of his hitdice and Constitution bonuses in his 40's.

Note that leShay characters have to finish all 52 levels before they can multiclass.
