[SSS] The Slarecian Legacy - also doomed?

We've just found out that Sword and Sorcery Studios will be releasing a book all about the Slarecians, that mysterious extinct race of the Scarred Lands who commanded psionic powers so vast and strong that the gods and titans had to join forces to crush them.

However, we know that the book is coming out sometime between January and March of 2004 (thanks to GamingReport). This leaves me a little worried about how useful the book will be though.

Here's my thinking: The Slarecians were a very psionic race, so this book wil likely have quite a bit of psionics content. But this book is releasing, at the latest, in March...and the Expanded Psionics Handbook, from WotC, is an April release. This is pretty much a guarantee that The Slacerian Legacy won't be using anything from the EPHB. I want to learn about the Slarecians as much as the next Scarred Lands gamer, but I don't want to buy a book that is going to have its materials be made somewhat obselete in just a few months...

I would like to point out Al, we don't know if the EPHB is going to be OGC or not.

Personally I'd still get Echoes of the Past since it will still have useful location stuff beyond feats, powers and other stuff that might change with the edition.

Hrm, good point, but (to my mind at least) it made sense to assume it would be. This is going to replace the old PsiHB, not be a supplement to it, same as the new 3.5E books replaced the old 3E ones. Likewise, since psionics are in the SRD, it makes sense that they'd update those for the new psi book. It'd be rather odd if they made other publishers reference a book that won't be printed anymore, for a system they themselves won't endorse.

You're privy to the XPH ?

It will features two new core classes (four psionic classes total), the MAD is gone, powers will scale...

Just because the general public won't have copies of the EPsiHB until April doesn't mean that publishers won't have access to the material beforehand.

Er - but you did not hear that from me... :p

Gez, I was referring to having worked on Echos, sorry for the confusion...
