Star wars/DND crossover

My group is starting a new campaign this weekend and I was planning on playing a Twi'lek (spelling?) force user (undeceided as to which). My question, to players and DMs alike what issues do you forsee in converting the force rules over and using a none-standard PC race in a generic DND world.

I would not do that with my campaign world (or just about any other) because it would not fit. What is the point of psionics if you have force wielders? Thats assumeing you use psionics. Besides if you give them force powers don't yah think they'll want lightsabers too.

As the player of this particular character i was going to replace lightsabres with longsword or more likley just drop them altogether. I also prefer the way the force is handled in Star wars than how the Psionic system is in DND.

I feel that the Psionic system is too similiar to the Magic system to be worth while taking if there is already a mage in the party. By using the feat/skill based force I was hoping for something fundamentaly different but of the same level of power.

As for wanting lightsabres, by removing the Starwars culture surrounding the force and adapting it to fit the campaign world. Lightsabres would be dropped early on.

Personally I don't like D&D Psionics system (well, I like it for the sorcerer, not for the psion, but that's another rant), so I use the Force system as psionics. And do you know what? It works well!

As for the Twi'lek, I don't see any problem in using them as a stantard D&D race. They are a cool race, by the way...

Well with the Force Adept (this concerns lightsabers) you don't learn the lightsaber you get the Force Weapon ability which allows you to (eventually) use the force to imbue weapons with up to +2D4 damage, for a small vitality cost. Besides, there's always Brilliant Energy longswords.

That said I definately like the Force rules better than the Psi rules.

I've used them sometimes, only I didn't called them twi'lek.
And I've used ewoks, of course, but not like little cute teddy bears, more like feral cannibalistic wood creatures, a bit like Dark Sun halflings...
