Star Wars for $15!

Argh, a few months back I bought Star Wars d20 from my local gaming shop for $45 (Canadian dollars). Then today I was at the mall and I noticed it in a chain book store, discounted to $15! I've advised a friend to pick up a copy-- he expressed interest in playing some Star Wars and the price can't be beat, locally at least.

Any reason why the price would get knocked down so drastically? The copies were not damaged or anything as far as I could see. The store also has other d20 books (well, the D&D core books plus the Dragonlance setting) for the regular price.

Which city and which mall?

Ah-- it might not be the revised edition. Do they have different covers? I own the revised edition and the cover was the same.

This was in Pine Center Mall in Prince George, BC, perhaps the worst mall in the world aside from the apparent availability of SWD20 stuff on the cheap. :)

Hmm...and my stupid friends from up there already went home and came back. Damn.

The OCR had a silver spine, the RCR has a blue-green design on a black background.

Actually, a couple of stores in my area are selling it dirt cheap as well, not quite that cheap, but a lot of them are jumping off of the RPG bandwagon LOCALLY. I am talking bookstores here, not FLGS or FLCS shops... SOme of them are just trying to move stock that won't move...

That is what I was thinking was going on here too, but it seems odd that they still carry some of the D&D 3 Ed stuff, but are getting out of the Star Wars. This is a regular bookstore too-- the game store in the same mall still sells it for the regular price.

Well, D&D still sells quite well for an RPG product, almost 2 to 1 over the next best selling RPG, Vampire or Exalted depending on the day of the week. Consdering Star Wars featured a SURGE when Ep. II came out, many book dealers probably purchased a large quantity of the RPG books and well, STar Wars is an AWESOME game and still quite popular, but not that popular...
