Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer

It could be all or partly a misdiretion, but the trend lately has been to very spoilery trailers.

I'm not peticularly bothered by, more perplexed at the marketing strategy behind it. That being said, having seen Blade Runner 2049 last night, the twist in it was rather savory has it played on a regular trope.

I dunno. Over in the Justice League trailer thread, somebody is complaining that doesn't explain the plot, and over in this thread somebody is complaining this explains the plot. I suspect it's just a case of internets. :)

I'm loving the trailer, it looks really good. And yeah, there seems to be a lot of misdirection in the trailer. I'm not convinced that the two final shots of Rey and Kylo take place in the same location at all. Rey seems to be sitting inside a cave, with consistent lighting. While Kylo seems to be standing in front of the burning remains of the Jedi Temple, outside, and with flickering lights of the fire. These two seem to be very different locations and scenes that they pasted together to deliberately misdirect us.

I like the background detail btw of the AT ST Walkers. They look like slightly updated versions of the ones we saw in Return of the Jedi.

I'm guessing misdirection or context removed. Just because shots and lines are together in the trailer, doesn't mean they're like that in the movie. It *looks* like Rey is asking Kylo to train her. But she could be reaching for Finn, talking to Luke, and Kylo could be looking at someone else and the three moments were merged.

Mark Hammil said that this is Luke's movie in the way that VII was Han's. and that IX was planned to be Leia's. But that plan is out the window now...

There is a ton of misdirection in the trailer for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the Klyo shot at the end isn't from a "cave" sequence similar to Luke and Vader on Degobagh. Rian Johnson also worked out a deal with Disney marketing to keep certain material out of the advertising. His comments about this trailer weren't concerns with revealing anything major, only warning people who wanted to come into the film "clean"
