Polygon has a brief interview up with Paizo senior developer Jenny Jarzabski revealing the cover art for the upcoming Starfinder 2nd Edition Player Core, GM Core, and the setting book Galaxy Guide.

Jarzabski mentions in the interview wanting to keep some of the 1st Edition books such as Pact Worlds and Near Space relevant after 2nd Edition launches, so it doesn't sound like the game's lore will get major updates. She also again mentioned the intent to make everything fully compatible with Pathfinder 2nd Edition, which addresses some online concerns about Starfinder 2nd Edition material being more powerful to Pathfinder 2nd Edition; so we'll see what tweaks get made based on playtest feedback.

Starfinder 2nd Edition featured in EN World's 10 most anticipated TTRPGs of 2025.

I am not a huge fan of the Player Core cover. The "PCs" in particular don't look great. I like the other two covers better, tho.

I am on the fence on this. My experience with PF2ER was not great. Not horrible, but still a lot of work and the juice did not seem worth the squeeze. But I really like Starfinder, so I am on the fence.

Having played 2 sessions of SF2e over Foundry, I am hesitant to recommend the game to you if you bounced off of PF2e. Foundry actually just uses the PF2e rules module with a Starfinder playtest module added in to provide things like ancestries, backgrounds, and classes so mechanically it's the same thing. I guess you might find the juice worth the squeeze for Starfinder's themes and if nothing else, it's probably easier to on-board to a game system when there isn't a bunch of splatbooks already out. I believe you were only using Player Core for PF2e character options though?

Going to spoiler tag the summaries of the first 2 playtest scenarios:
The first scenario I ran was a basic explore a strange deserted site on a planet that no one has been to in a long time. 2 combats, lots of exploration and roleplaying. I'm not a Star Trek guy, but it's what came to mind when reading it. I probably could have worked in some red shirts to get killed to make it feel more like that. ;) This scenario was level 1.

The second scenario was the players discovering an unmanned ship drifting through space and they had to explore and figure out what happened to the crew. 2 combats, lots of exploration and roleplaying. Definitely felt like it could have been part of an Alien movie. This scenario was level 5 so the players had some more toys to play with and it gave a better idea what the classes were about.
