Stargate: Atlantis - Series Finale

I rolled a 9 on a DC 10 VCR skill check ... which means I got the episode up until the last few minutes where they were standing at the stargate and Rodney had just completed dialing it up to the alpha site.

Could someone give me a blow by blow description of that last few minutes (as predictable as it may be)?
The dungeon collapsed and they all died.[sblock=No, really...]- The gang escapes
- The hiveship goes boom
- Atlantis looses orbits and shields on re-entry...
- ... a fireball is seen over the Pacific...
- ... tension at SG control as they try to contact Atlantis ...
- ... and it splash lands safely, supposedly near Hawaii (though its outside of SF in the last shots)
- Sheppard faces off Todd. Says that he helped but next time... (left "sorta" open if they killed him anyway because you didn't see any shots and Sheppard didn't officially say something one way or the other, but I got the impression that isn't what happened. I mean really, its Todd!)
- Ronan is in the med lab recovering when kick-boxing control lady (don't for the life of me know her name) shows up, flirts with him, and escorts him outside "to see something"
- All the SG-A team is out there looking out at the Golden Gate. Rodney and Keller have a snuggly moment
- The End. No really.
- Plug for Stargate Universe (30 sec, just a teaser).[/sblock]

At least this episode was better than the past 2 weeks. Those were terrible. Why is it when the end of a run comes, they pull all of the garbage out of the closet.

I still have to say the last few eps of Angel were probably the best ending of a series I've seen.

I thought the next to last episode was quite good. Too bad it was used as the next to last episode though instead of an earlier lead in to an multi-episode arc.

Babylon 5. Star Trek TNG. Star Trek DS9. And I thought Stargate SG-1 did pretty well too.
I'm sorry, i didn't mean sci-fi show. I mean show on the Sci-Fi netowork. They are horrible for canceling a show without giving good warning.

Battlestar Galactica seemsto be the only show they've allowed to end on their own note. Lets see how this goes.

The second to last episode was one of the best SG episodes ever, of either series!

Stargate: CSI. I'd watch it.

Speaking of wrap ups, that reminds me did we ever get a finish for Ford's character? Did he just die or was it left open?

I don't mind the occasional alternate reality episode. DS9 did a great job with it. But when you have a handful of episodes left, wouldn't you want to put out something that totally rocks and not a wraith putting on makeup and playing poker? Show something that matters. Not the stupid one offs.
