Stargate SG-1/Atlantis 7-14 *Season Premier*

Okay, I liked them both but I think Atlantis was a bit better.

SG-1 : At first, I didn't like the fact that at the battle, none of the Ori ships were destroyed. However, upon reflection, it makes sense. When confronted with new/better tech, it will probably win the first confrontation. Further, unless I saw it wrong, when the Ori ship was rammed, that did go through the shields and bash the ship. So, that's a possibility, but obviously at a big cost. I also thought it was too bad that the writer's didn't go with Daniel saving Vala AND grabbing the daughter to have her around for a few episodes. I think that would have made things more interesting. Think of the debates they could have! Still very good, imo.

Atlantis - I liked it all. I liked how Weir refused to take the comittee's crap and I loved how she realized they were indecisive enough to miss any blame. I liked it when Shepard was on the side of the hive ship, thinking back to the conversation and saying, "I gotta listen to them more." That was great! I don't like Ronin's attitude toward Michael but that's because I wouldn't mind seeing Michael be a recurring character. Maybe Ford and him hook up to fight the wraith? In any case, very good.

Have a good one! Take care!

I can't remember who he said it too, but I loved Sheppard's line re:hitching a ride on the hive ship thru hyperspace: "I saw it in a movie once."

I love it when the writer's play up their homages for laughs.

Thought SG-1 was OK. Really enjoyed Atlantis.

With the Ori, I feel a sense of been there, done that. Plus, only the McGuffin can kill them angle is annoying.

I think on Atlantis they've made the wraith a much more interesting enemy as the seasons progressed. Rodney and Shepard rock.

Once again, I get the impression that Atlantis stole the best writers away from SG-1. I just really enjoyed that premiere better than the Ori smackdown.

I was disappointed there were so many survivors of the Ori attack. Yes, the explanation (witnesses) made sense, but still... it felt like a bit of a cop-out after ending the season with nothing but a debris field visible as far as the eye could see.

Plus, SG-1 was missing most of the witty banter. About all we got were the Daniel/Vala moments. While Atlantis had it running on all cylinders, like I'm used to.

I wonder what angle the people from avalon will bring in? ... the girl pulled the sword from the stone and what not ...

I know, they'll have a corp of knights (like the jaffa and ori soldiers) backed by wizards (to borrow merlin's title) who are kinda like the priors.
