Starting Ages

I'm really enjoying the system so far and have finally dived into character creation, I'm just a little confused on the point of starting age. The book says to write down your race and starting age, but I don't seem to see the starting age for each race noted anywhere. Am I missing something blatantly obvious?

That's what I thought at first, but then I realized if for instance I wanted to make a Sylvan Elf, and take all four Traditions as Ranger past my starting tradition, not even if I rolled maximum for my age for each one would I be able to break out of the Adolescent bracket.

Starting age is zero.

Your starting tradition will add something in the region of 2d6+6 years. Your following four traditions add about 1d6 each.

OK, so essentially a starting Sylvan Elf will, at most, only ever be just about to come out of adolescence?

Using the playtest traditions, yeah - they're designed for human lifespans. In later documents there will be much longer racial traditions more suited to long-lived races. I think there's a couple already in N.E.W. for the Venetians. But the elves will get 'em.

That makes sense. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't interpreting something wrong. Thanks, Morrus.

Are there going to be traits tor pre-adolescence or should you just bump the age up into adolescent? If you roll exceptionally low you can end up with a 12 year old PC.

Adolescent will be the lowest. I wasn't planning on covering child characters.
