Out of curiosity, for the purposes of doing a typical starter adventure, just how high up a spell list would we have access to? I figure 4 spells per list (counting the cantrip).
A base human mage who studied as an apprentice, will have a 3 for the magic attribute. So that takes us to three spells, plus a cantrip per list.
We start with 3 intelligent, we get one if we add the bonus attribute humans are allowed and another 1 for studying as an apprentice. That brings us to 5.
Each intelligent attribute gives us access to a list. That gives us access to 5 lists. Taking the mage tradition once we gain an extra list. So we are now up to 6 spell lists, each can go 4 deep from the word go.
So my beginning mage would/could have access up to 24 spells before they start.
Is this correct?
