Related poll to the first - do you prefer to see monster stats in full always, or if you meet a goblin do you just prefer a MM reference?

Cheers!

I suspect in this community many will know the stats of many monsters by heart.

Not me, and I will begin the minority who cheer for full stat blocks in the encounters - not in an appendix - right where the creature is encountered.

Yes, I will pay for them - because obviously they are going to "use up" space in the adventure.

i understand the increased space full monster stats would necessitate. nonetheless, i'd love to not have to pull out the monster manual during gameplay nor print out separate stat blocks.

For me just hitpoints and a page reference would suffice, if it is a monster that is not to common, my players will want to see the picture if it is available, that way, i would have to look up the reference anyway

I *HATE* having to pull out the Monster Manual every time an encounter comes up.

I ESPECIALLY hate having to pull it out and place pens in the book at three different places so I can find EACH of the monsters in the current fight.

Give me the bloody stats in the module where they will be encountered, not in an appendix at the end!

I am running RttToEE and I actually like the stats in the back. I just wish that they had stats for the unaltered MM monsters and that the inside margin was larger so that I could photocopy the stats.

If I had the time and access to a photocopier, then the statblocks at the end of Return to the Temple of Inexplicable Evil would have been fine.

BETTER would have been a seperate booklet, like the map booklet, with the stat blocks in it. That would have been IDEAL actually.

Agree hellhound -- I'm starting the RotToEE tonight, and may just do that!

I'd rather pay for stat blocks right where you need them myself.

Boooo to the responses above. I *always*, stat blocks given or not, use the MM (or whatever monster book is used for an adventure) during an encounter. At the very least, I show the picture to the players. And, I prefer the original reference.

I *hate* (unaltered) monster stat blocks in adventures - waste of space and my money. Hated 'em in 1e, hated 'em in 2e, and hate them in 3e.

Dungeon Magazine got it right.
