Statistical Analysis?

I was wondering if anyone's done statistical analysis on stats in 3.5e

I'm wondering specifically if there's some generalizations or groupings you can make about monsters and NPCs that might be fruitful for simplifying the GM's workload. Something like "Aside from feats and spell(-like ability) selection, most monsters fit into one of these 3 types:"

Has anyone done this kind of thing?

Do you have Skip Williams' article "How to Create a Monster"? It has tables for each monster type & size showing standard presumed ability scores.

It was distributed in a number of places: Dragon #276, the front of Monster Manual II (so I hear), I got it on Dragon magazine promotional CD, it used to be hosted in the downloads here at ENWorld (can't find it anymore). Email me if you need more help finding it.
