stats for broadsword

Anyone have the 3E stats for a broadsword, converted from 2E ???

If you mean official stats, there aren't any. The broadsword didn't make the transition to 3e.

If you mean, "did anyone convert the 2e broadsword into 3e?" then I'm sure someone did, and that they'll be along any minute to help you out.

Actually, they did address the broadsword thingy in SoF. Use the same stats as a long sword.

If you want realism, however....um....don't play DnD.

In my understanding, "broadsword" is a renaissance word. And they are called "broad" because they are broader than rapiers or small swords. Thus those things are nothing but equivalents of medieval longsword or short sword, depend or their length. So using longsword stats for broadsword is "realistic". Am I wrong about this?

A broadsword also has a hilt that makes parrying easier. An older, broad sword is actually a longsword. I hope this doesn't make your head hurt as much as mine does.

A broadsword is also "broad", while a longsword is "long". And guess what? A shortsword is, yep, "short".

A lot of "broadsword" have basket hilt. They guard user's sword hand in place of gauntlet. But I wonder if that thing affect so much in DnD system, as having gauntlet or not do not affect AC anyway. IMHO having slightly-well-guarded hilt will be not so significant when a man is fighting against a 10 meter dragon.

Suddenly, I can't remember what book the weapon is in, but there's one in the books that has a basket hilt. They seem to give a bonus to your roll against disarms made against you. Wish I could remember where that was. Maybe the cutlass...
