Stats for Tolkien Elves

Well, there's always the Paragon template from the Epic Level Handbook.

Another option is enforcing Exalted behaviour from them.

I always thought LeShay minus the lightsabers equaled Tolkien elves. I wouldn't mind the suggestion that all elves encountered have a minimum of 20 character levels though. I simply don't think that Tolkien elves as a race are the sort of thing that would be playable in a low level campaign. I think they're just too powerful for that. The Tolkein elf "feel" is "I'm better than you mortals".

Likewise, I also wouldn't allow someone to play Superman in a low level campaign, nor Hercules. Not everything written in fantasy or myth is applicable to low level gaming. Some things simply need racial HD or LA.

A couple of suggestions for Tolkien style Elves. One is to give them automatically a level or two of Perform (Elvish Poetry and Song). Another is the possibility of giving them the Woodland Stride ability. Now if we were talking about Tolkien Dwarves we'd probably have to give them some skills in terms of Appraising gems and jewelry. And Tolkien Hobbits would have to get some Gardening and Cooking skills.

I've started experimenting with giving 1st level characters some NPC levels in Commoner, maybe later I'll try some Expert levels too. If anyone ever decides to play a human from a culture in my milieu vaguely similar to Rohan, they'd get automatically Handle Animal and Ride levels.

Unfortunately (?) the classes of D&D are SO VERY inappropriate for the Tolkienverse, it's just not funny.

Well maybe it is. :p

Anyway, even if the race(s) could be modeled in d20 fantasy, that's where I can see the next - and much bigger - stumbling block coming along.

For what it's worth, I think the minimum LA for one of these puppies would be about +4. Noldor and co. might well go quite a bit higher.

edit --- As a kind of related comparison - I wrote up a version of the Sidhe a couple of years ago, which ended up LA+6. Not too dissimilar in every way, those. Just thought I'd mention it.
