Steampunk Musha D20?

Emily Ironfist

First Post
Hey Everyone,

I'm Emily, and i'm new here- actually stumbled upon this site by accident (from the wotc forums) - anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any notes or ideas on how to convert Steampunk Musha to D20? I like the setting, but want a system that I'm used to playing.

Thanks

I'm not real big on conversions but I bet that you could use the SRD to simulate what you needed fairly easily. Use the d20 rules for the basic characters and NPCs and when it comes to monsters, try to match them up with ones from the SRD and then make changes as necessary.

Here are some resources you could use...

RPG Objects Legends of the Samurai : http://rpgobjects.com/index.php?page=los

Mongoose's OGL Steampunk: http://enworld.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=10078&

Savage Worlds Rune Punk: http://www.studio2publishing.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=2216

And Let's not forget Iron Kingdoms: http://www.privateerpress.com/ironkingdoms/?x=about

Hope this helps...
Regards,
Walt

P.S. Welcome to EN World

As much as I like d20...I think this setting screams "PORT ME TO TRUE20!"

If you like Steampunk Musha, Kitsunemore from Dog Soul is also an EXCELLENT book. While not steampunk, it captures a similar level of flavor, although is more feudal oriental than the more progressive minded Steampunk Musha.

I've started on converting steampunk musha races to true20 backgrounds. I've also imported many of the d20 modern feats (mostly skill based stuff like Gearhead) for use in True20.

Unfortunately, I'm only at 3 races, and I haven't got real far. I can post them when I get home tonight if it helps.

Won't help any straight d20 conversion though...
If I were to d20 it, Gaijin would be normal humans. I'd change the Steampunk Musha Human to something more like wild elf, although they look human. Don't know if the Jinteki-Oni would be a plausable/playable race without an LA though. I'd probably just forbid players from playing them anyways. Keshou - maybe use halfling.

No problem. I'll post up what I have. Maybe this will be a good start to people helping convert some more with me.

I just love this setting. I purchased it with no interest in running it with whatever rules set it was for. The art (Rick Hershey and his group) rocks, and the idea of a steampunk victoriental (coming after the most excellent product Etherscope) world just hit me. I would probably jump in and combine this with etherscope, if in fact I could convert etherscope to true20. :P

Thanks for the links kroh, and the warm welcome. I'm going to check those out.

jezter6- I have the true 20 book, just never got a chance to read it yet.I'd be happy with using that since the system is closer to something my friends are used to playing. And I'd love to see any notes you might have :)

does anyone know if more setting material is going to be released? I'd like to see more details on the different cities and stuff. Maybe we can work together on doing some conversions? I bought the book for the setting also, not real interested in learning a new system (although I did run a oneshot using the packaged rules as best as I could)

Anyway, thanks for the welcome guys, and I'm going to go read True20 and see what I come up with.

Ok, so here's what I started working on before I got sidetracked and forgot about it. As you can see I imported a few feats from d20 modern. Let me know what you think.
