Sterling Vermin Adventuring Co. presents 2 new oaths for paladin: the Oath of Ancestors and the Oath of Vigilance

Noble ladies and lords!

This week the Sterling Vermin Adventuring Co. blog presents two new paladin oaths!

The Oath of Ancestors is sworn by paladins who want to honor their deceased ancestors with righteous behavior. Paladins who swear the Oath of Ancestors can call upon their own revered ancestors for support in and out of battle.

The Oath of Vigilance is what paladins swear when they believe there is an individual or community in the world whose existence is more important than their own life. Paladins swear the Oath of Vigilance when they are willing to risk their own lives to protect others.

Ancestral Guidance is confusing. If I'm rolling a Charisma skill check where I've already added Charisma do I add Charisma bonus or 2 x Charisma bonus on top?

In the text of the feature it specifies that you add the Charisma bonus twice if you normally already added it. I had to look myself to make sure I didn't have a complete brainfreeze and forgot to put that in. Thanks for the question and the encouragement!

So you're adding a stat bonus 3 times with an ancestral Guidance ability check? Sounds a little excessive, perhaps an Advantage roll would be better, would have to play test it

No. You are either adding your Charisma modifier twice or Charisma modifier + one other ability score modifier.
