still waiting for a familiar product

BVB

First Post
I've been waiting for oft-promised supplements that focus on familiars and other adventurers' companion critters (not just a bestiary of NPC monsters). Have I missed certain releases, or have they just not bee published yet?

They haven't hit the shelves yet.

Troll Lords, En World and Mongoose all have books on this subject. It'll be interesting to see if the changes in 3.5 have slowed down the production.

Hey BVB and JoeGKushner,

I'm the writer/designer for EA: Familiars... and it should be coming out in July (although technically I believe it was supposed to be June ;-)... Anyway, I'm looking forward to it as its my best designed supplement yet (at least in my opinion) and should provide GMs and players alike a plethora of possibilities for their NPC and PC familiars... You can find out more about it here:

Take Care,
Joseph Miller

PS: Might either of you be interested in doing some playtesting work for me on an upcoming d20 dreamscape campaign setting I'm working on? If so send me an email and I'll send you some more information...

I worked on the Troll Lord product. I think it was originally scheduled to come out like 6 months ago; why it keeps getting delayed I do not know. Maybe it has something to do with the Trolls' partnering with other companies. Anyway, I say give it another month or two.

First one announced, last to hit the shelves? FILO accounting. Weird.

It's a shame, because I was one of the first people here to start posting excited messages about the product when it was promised. There's something to be said about unnecessarily teasing the customer with long delays.

And we delayed our release of EA Familiars so that it would not clash with the Troll Lord guys :)

EA Familiars is due to arrive at our warehouse sometime this week, I am told - I'll have to check what the street date is. However, I'll do a preview of the book as soon as I get my mits on it!

thank you matt!

Matt speaks the truth, they did that for us and our lazy bones failed to get the book out on time...and now he's going to beat us! lol Thanks matt!

Actually the two books won't clash so much as the subject matter is a bit different. The Book of Familiars brings a whole new set of gaming mechanics for ALL classes, allowing any and all to gain Animal Companions and Familiars.

The delay has been for 3.5. If we put the book out as it was originally written (and it would have come out last month) we would given you folks a book that was only usable with 3e. As it is now Jason Peck has dutifully pounded the keys and brough the book up to the 3.5 standard. (thank you jason) She will be a hard back book packed to the brim in all 200 pages.

I noticed on your list of 3.5 announcements that this book wasn't one of them.

With the radical change in bonuses a familiar grants it's master, will this book need web support or ?

Well this sounds like another winner from the Troll Lords. You guys keep this up with your Necromancer and Citizen Games products and you'll be on everyone's hit list.

Is this still going to be a hardcover product or ?
