I'd like some help from my fellow Enworlders on this spell I have just created, the problem bein g that the only thing I'm definate about is what I want the spell to do. Allow the caster tlo see thing like others do. My concern is that the level is wrong, especially since there is no Somatic component. Heres the spell.

Stolen Sight

Divination
Level: Sor/wiz 5
Components: V, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 20ft radius
Targets: All living creatures in range
Duration: 1 minute per level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

The spell reaches inside of creatures mind and allows the caster to become aware of what they can see. This can simultaneously affect as many creatures that are in sight, allowing nigh all round vision. This negates flanking, and the possibility of flat-footedness. This means the caster cannot be subject to a surprise round, but does not affect the casters initiative, in addition to this bonus, for every creature that the spell affects the caster gains a +2 bonus to spot. All spell effects under 4th level are also shared as is dark vision and lowlight vision, however these effects only affect the individuals Stolen sight i.e. the effects to not change other visions. Further bonuses, for example seeing that one person is looking at the casters purse, are reliant on GM discretion.

Material component: Elderberry oil costing at least 50gp, in the casters palm that evaporates on completion.

it seems pretty good but not spell level 7 good. I'd make it like spell level 5. Also, what about adding in a bonus to spot? I'd do like +2 per person the spell effects.

Prying eyes is a 5th level spell, it can't negate flanking, but can look around much more easily. In hindsight it was an overstatement.

I like the idea on spot.

Sorry to bump this to the first page but it looks like it went down without anyone looking at it at all. What I would like is just a bit more feed back, please.

Here are my questions:

a)Will you be able to see invisible creatures assuming someone near you has cast see invisibility?

b)Will you benefit from someone's darkvision/or other improved vision or not?

c)If there is someone you haven't understand his presence before casting the spell?
(say ,an invisible enemy ten feet from you). After casting the spell you become aware of
what everyone near you can see, thus you become aware of the person too ,yes?

The spell seems quite weak because
a)Of its range.
b)Of the duration

The class who is going to cast this, is mainly the wizard, and as you very well know an average wizard doesn't have many slots to waste.
Thats why i feel the spell should become more appealling by changing the duration into minutes per level.

Yes, yes, and yes, that doesn't mean you know where they are, and you still attack at 50% miss chance.

I think upping the duration is a good idea because it's a fairly non-combat spell. Thanks :)
