Stories on people going crazy

Another Lovecraft story I'd recommend is "The Shadows Over Innsmouth". Also, it there is an audio book with which you can hear it being read by Donald Sutherland on You Tube.

Which, FWIW, was made into a nifty little film in 1968.


Lancaster at fifty-five was in amazing shape for that film and people might recognize a young Joan Rivers and Diana Muldaur as well as a few other character actors of note. Obviously, a short story that happens mostly internally, is going to have some difficulties translating to a visual medium, but I think they did what they could and came away with a pretty good film (though it drags a bit in places). I probably don't need to say it, but people should read the short story prior to watching it, IMO. The film is currently free on Netflix for those who would like to make the comparison.
