Fistan: You recall that Lord Nandar had no children and several brothers. The number and names escape you, but last year's noble gossip does not. At every dinner party, you were forced to hear all about Lord Nandar's murder by Ardeep elves and how his siblings were all too eager to steal the land away from his Widow. Given the size of the creatures described, the first thing that springs to your mind is giants. You've never met one and and the fables describe them as fat, slobbering oafs. However, you shared ale with an older wizard once. He claimed that common giants are just the rejects of the species. An evil god created superior versions that can live in fire and water. Perhaps some even have domain over the skies? Everyone: The young drunken soldier does a double take. "Goblins? There weren't any goblins during the siege. Those buggers must have sneaked in after." "During the attack we were unable to defend the villagers. Most of the guards were up in the keep when the bridge was destroyed," the Turami woman explains. "Morak sprang into action. He's the tavern owner and a former adventure. Morak ordered the draw bridge down and lead the villagers away from harm." The old guard scoffs at this. "That was three whole days ago. Face it. They're all dead," he says with disgust. " I'm sure they were killed by those sky bastards or the ear seekers. Hell, even if the dwarf lead them to the bat caves, who's to say something more dangerous wasn't waiting there?"
