PS: What's Nephilim about?

Nephilim is about modern occultism. I haven't played it or even read it fully, but it appears that players take role of Nephilim, which are some sort of supernatural entities. They also published a pretty interesting supplement describing a lot of real world occult organizations.

Perhaps someone with actual knowledge of the game may explain it better.

The early Elric books were dark fantasy, the later ones are more high fantasy. The latest one has Elric battling Nazis.

Was that from a book of Elric short stories named (I think) 'Tales of the White Wolf'? There was another story where Elric teamed up with someone very much like Jimi Hendrix with a sword similar to Stormbringer but named Cloudhurler.

This was originally a French game that Chaosium published in English.

You choose some sort of elemental focus for your character (fire/water etc.) and get special powers based on it.
In the game you create your character based on a seris of past lives. You might have been an egyptian priest/dark age knight/elizabethan beggar. This allows you develop a background very nicely. At the end of each era you return to a sort of stasis.

You "start the game proper" by awakening again in the modern day (generally) and proceed to battle the forces of darkness.

There's a very rich feel to the occult stuff in this game and some of the background/alternate history is very interesting. (Though personally I don't go in for the dinosaurs bit)

However, its one of those games you read and think is brilliant BUT, end up wondering how do i run the game? I've had it and some supplements sitting on my shelf since it came out, but I still aint figured out how to run it yet!

It seems to have died a death of late - but perhaps its just gone into statis! ;-)

Check it out if your really into Occult roleplaying with a "psuedo realistic" feel.

Is it just me, or is that a ridiculous concept? I haven't read that particular book (despite the fact that I'm a huge Elric fan), but somehow the idea of Elric fighting in WWII makes me cringe.

Actually, Moorcock interweaves Elric with another Von Bek descendant, who's busy with the Nazi's.

_The Skrayling Tree_ is a definitely good read.
