Players in my StormFront Play by Post Campaign upload your characters here. Since none of us are 3e experts expect to make changes to your characters as they come under review. We're all learning here.

Aside from changes you might make for technical rules reasons, I may be tossing in some variants as well. In other words, just because you post doesn't mean it's set in stone. Ask questions, listen to advice and help each other out.

I'll repeat this often but you can also follow the link below. I'll post various things about our campaign there. Mostly maps and other images too difficult to upload here or on the main campaign thread. There's nothing but a placeholder there now but content will appear as we go along.

Doug1, thanks for posting your char :). BTW, you can cut down on your skills list by only posting the ones that you have actually taken ranks in.

I'll post some more hints tomorrow... too tired now.

I'm like Doug B. -- I don't really have a clue what I'm doing and don't know why my stats are what they are. I just went into the Character Generator program, rolled the dice and printed out the Character Sheet. I don't know why or how I got 21 on STR. I don't know how I got the skills or feats I've got. And I don't know what half of the stats mean. I'm learning as I go. Chris has told me he will probably change my STR stat, which is fine with me. I'm guessing this will all start to make some sense after we begin play and I understand the implications of each stat/skill/feat/etc. The only thing I've done consciously (aside from rolling the dice) was to select certain skills and my 2 feats. I could use some guidance/suggestions about several things. I think the most immediate concern I have is re: equipment/weapons/armor/etc. If anyone thinks I need to change skills or adjust ranks, let me know. Not having ever played D&D, I'm not sure where all of this is going. And the Player's Handbook isn't very clear to a newbie like me. Jump right in there, guys, and give me some suggestions. I welcome them.
 

DougP, I sent you a message over Yahoo messenger to add you to my friends list. If you want we can chat it through. I'm not on YM all the time though, so we'll just have to play email tag until we get it right. Don't worry about your stats and other stuff right now. That's what Chris & I are for, to help you all through. You could take a look at pp. 43-44 of the PHB (Player's Handbook). That gives a sample Human Paladin starting package with armor, weapons, skills, feats, gear & gold. I'm not saying that you should make Xyffor exactly like that, but it could help you by example.

DougB, maybe you should look at the first sample Alternative Ranger starting package on p. 46 of the PHB (it references the Elven Ranger immediately above it, too).

Jay, do you think I should change my skills and feats? Except for Heal, the skills and feats I selected are ALL different from the "Starting Package" on p. 43. My thinking was that I could make money with Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing. Obviously, I put considerable skill points in Heal and chose Concentration with the thought that I may need to heal myself/someone in battle and do not want my spell to "fizzle." Knowledge (religion) seemed like something a Pally would need, but I don't know why yet -- it just "seemed" right. However, I struggled with that one because it is an INT skill and my INT is low, so I wasn't sure whether I should have chosen that one. Sense Motive was another one of those "it just sounded good" kind of choices. I'm imagining that the game will proceed something like the DM telling us we have come across some NPC and we need to know whether the NPC means us harm/good/wealth/etc. Hence, I figured someone needed to know their motive. Again, I don't know where to start, so I'm "imagining" how the game will proceed without any basis of fact. As for feats, the PHB suggested Weapon focus (longsword) and Improved initiative. I selected Power Attack and Toughness for no other reason than I figured I will be a main combatant and need offensive skills. I am going to purchase the recommended armor, weapons and gear. But do you think I should change or adjust my skills/feats? I've been working on my story line, but it's becoming obvious to me that my player stats need more work. Be patient with me. Just remember, my INT is low, but my WIS is high. Lol. I'll get it eventually.
