ok, few things:

1. I forgot in my old post, when me and my dad were trying to get it to character sheet on his etools to alot of the stats you said I should have (you being jay) it came up different. Mind just doing a quick scan of the character sheet for me and see if everything is in order?

2. Ann, Bob, and John are cheerfully annoying :(

Kaze,

All I could see is that your HP should be 9 and not 7. [4 Max HP +2 Constitution Modifier +3 Toughness Feat = 9 HP total]

Also, since you have a little bit of money left over, you might want to pre-make some scrolls for yourself. These are spells that you can cast onto a piece of paper to use later (like when you run out of spells for the day). The cost (according to the Dungeon Master's Guide) is [6gp, 2sp, 5cp & 1 XP] per 0-level spell and [12 gp, 5sp & 1 XP] per 1st level spell. I would guess that Chris would forgo the XP (experience points) costs now, since you really don't have any, but would make you pay them later. For example, you could make yourself 2 Shield and 3 Magic Missile scrolls for a total cost of 62gp & 5sp [12gp x5 = 60gp & 5sp x5 = 25sp & 20sp = 2gp, so total = 62gp, 5sp] with 3sp & 7cp left over, Mr. Moneybags.

Everything else looks fine. Good job.

Jay

Chris, the stats on my posted Character Sheet are inaccurate. I don't know why ETools does that. It did the same thing in the beginning when it assigned me +21 STR. My Fort should be +3 instead of +5, my Dexterity should be +1 instead of +3, and my Will should be +2 instead of +4. AC and Speed appear correct. I'm not sure about HP yet, but I'm working on it.

Xyffor,

When you say Dexterity above, I think you mean Reflex right? Also, your HP should be 11 on your character sheet, not 10. Everything else seems to be fine.

We're Starting...Now? Ok...NOW! Wait...

Players,

I finally heard from Vann. (He's been on vacation, busy, etc.) He's still on board but has given the OK to go on without him. This may actually work out better in the long run.

So, if you haven't finalized or posted/emailed your character's background, now's the time. I'm going to try and start the official PbP thread by the end of the week but no promises. You'll know it's definitely closer whenever you get the Starting Info email.

Until then, familiarize yourself with what your character is capable of (skills, feats. spells, various other abilities) and continue to skim that PHB.

Let me stress a couple things:

1. A lot of what you've read and discussed will become clearer as we play. Some things won't. You won't, for example, make your own die rolls and combat is certainly not going to have "flow" even under the best conditions (like everyone posting in rapid succession). I'll start a new OOC thread to discuss game issues. I urge you to continue reading about and discussing the game, especially after we're underway.

2. Though I have a long history with D&D and have immersed myself in 3rd edition for the last few months I'll make mistakes. Jay will probably be the one to intially catch a bunch of them but later on it could be anyone. I ask only this: Be nice and keep it in the OOC thread. (And you can post what you like too.)

Ok then!

OK, Jay, I now understand your last post to me and how you arrived at the stats. According to my Character Sheet (which I think is now accurate), the paladin has a medium armor proficiency. How does that effect my scale mail? The PHB refers me to table 7-5, but I'm not sure what that means. I see that I get a +4 armor bonus for having scale mail. Do I get additional armor bonus by having armor proficiency? Next question -- I have a +2 CHA modifier. I do NOT have a rank in the Bluff skill. Can I still use Bluff with my +2 modifier, but without a rank? Do you have to have a rank in a skill to use it? It appears to me that I can (based on p. 57 of PHB - "Many skills can be used even if the character has no ranks in the skill. . .").

As a Paladin, you actually have proficiency in ALL Armors (Heavy, Medium & Light). Having this means that you can use Heavy, Medium & Light Armor WITHOUT penalty. You don't get bonuses, you just don't get penalized. Whereas, Kaze, because he is a Sorceror, has NO proficiency with any armor, therefore if he tries to wear ANY armor he will incur penalties. For more info, look to the paragraphs of text directly above Table 7-5 on p104 of the PHB (which you probably already did :) ).

On Table 4-2 p59 of the PHB, you will see a column that says UNTRAINED, which indicates whether a skill can be used without having taken ranks in it. According to that column Bluff can be used untrained.

I am not really sure if I should be posting in this thread, but you've caught my attention and I thought maybe I could help.

One of the abilities a Paladin has in something called Divine Grace. Essentially, because of your Paladin-ness, your God makes you a bit tougher than usual.

In game terms, you get to add your Charisma modifier to all of your saving throws.

Since your (Idsquare) Charisma modifier is +2, that would explain why all of your Saving Throws are 2 more than you thought they should be.

Hope I helped. :D

Edit: Oh, and you can't Scribe Scrolls without the Scribe Scroll feat. Wizards get it for free. Sorcerors, however, do not.

And great backgrounds. :)
